Famous Wildlife Footage from Kurger National Park
The South African peninsula features a mild climate throughout the year, with the advantage of being nicely placed at the perfect latitude - turning it into a wonderful holiday away from the dank and dark European and American winters.
In this short piece, I’m going to highlight the not so well known locations of South Africa, so you can get away from the crowds while also enjoying the cheaper prices that you can discover in the lesser known places.
Kruger Park
Many people recognise Kruger National Park from perhaps the most notable wildlife footage caught on camera. Kruger National Park is the biggest wildlife park in the South African peninsula and covers 60 km from east to west and 350 km from north to south. Kruger National Park features 8 main gates that allow entryway to the many campsites . There is an abundance of accommodation near Krugar Park so it doesn’t have to be a lengthy return trip from Cape Town or whatever holiday resort you’re based in.
Check out the Drakensberg Mountains
The Drakensberg Mountain Range is the highest mountain range in the South African Peninsula, climbing to 3,482 meters (11,420 ft) in height. Caves are predominant in the more easily scoured sandstone, and many have paintings etched by the indigenous people. The Drakensberg Mountains have roughly 40000 works of cave paintings and is the biggest assemblage of such artwork in the world. There is some proof that the bushman civilization existed in the Drakensberg Mountains at least 40,000 years ago, and possibly over 100,000 years ago. The Drakensberg Mountain Range is simple to get to from closeby Durban and you can normally get accommodation in Durban very easily.
KwaZulu
The KwaZulu area has become increasingly popular with holidaymakers - primarily advertised as the Zulu Kingdom. It is a shame that many from abroad don’t come to this area, as many locals know that it provides visitors a variety of things to do. For a long time it has taken the moniker as the Garden Province for good reason. And again, there ought to be no trouble finding guesthouses near KwaZulu.
