Computer Sales Increasing
Lots of people have often wondered about who came up with, and where the initial portable PC or laptop computer came from., the first portable computers bore very little resemblance to the book-sized and folding laptops that we are accustomed to seeing today, however, they were both easily transportable and lapable, and led to the development of notebook style laptops.
A number of people have since penned stories involving laptops like the following.
A story which recently appeared in the local paper concerning Compal Electronics Inc., some say the world’s largest contract laptop manufacturer. Their chief vexation concerns the fact that China presently has a deficit of labour and an issue with rapidly increasing wages; which in their opinion could cause a big problem in the recovery of the computer market. Nothing to worry about I’m sure your Apple Air will still arrive if you order it soon, as most don’t come from Asia to the UK at the moment.
It is the belief of the company chairman that the best way to head off any future problems is to increase wages for their Chinese workers and make sure that they have adequate working conditions.
He believes the wages should increase by a “marginal amount” but refused to elaborate.
The company turned out 38 million laptop pcs last year 23 percent of the world total mostly from its production base in the Chinese city of Kunshan, in China.
With computer sales expected to increase 20 percent this year, Hsu said Compal will set up a few more manufacturing plants in China’s interior to meet demand.
A feeling grows that by 2030 80 percent of China will be urbanized,” Hsu told a shareholders meeting. “Wages are still low in the west, but will catch up rapidly. Businesses must not relocate just for the sake of wage concerns like travellers chasing new grasslands.”
It is believed that an economic recovery is in full swing in China, workers have started demanding vast wage increases and showed far less endurance for harder work conditions than their parents and grandparents did only five years ago.
Many problems such as those of employees on lower wages being unhappy with their lot was even more prominent recently following a spate of suicides at a manufacturing plant. The business became so worried that they have since increased the basic rate of pay by 200 percent.
Sadly a £116,000 damages award to a disappointed shopper has been wiped out by judges in an appeal court, in a landmark ruling which could impact thousands of consumers in Scotland.
Richard Durkin handed back a laptop computer to PC World because it wouldn’t do what he wanted he wanted.
However, the bank that had provided the credit capacity to enable him to buy the laptop continued to chase him for payments, and eventually blacklisted him when he said that he would not make any.
